About the lessons

MATEM (Matemática para la Enseñanza Media), is a university outreach program aimed at improving the teaching of mathematics in high schools by preparing students for higher education. Students who participate in MATEM will have the opportunity to take subjects such as Elementary Mathematics and Calculus I while still in high school, with content and academic levels similar to those taught at universities. If they pass these courses, they can request credit recognition when entering any public university (UCR, UNA, TEC, UNED, or UTN), allowing them to get ahead in their studies and progress more quickly in their university careers.

Goals

  • Contribute to improving the mathematical education of high school students.
  • Familiarize students with the terminology, instructions, and understanding of mathematics in Spanish.
  • Develop greater analytical skills and promote more disciplined study habits.
  • Earn university credits during the school year, at a pace more suitable for high school students, before entering university.

Materials

A laptop or tablet is required to access a digital textbook and practice exams.
