About the lessons

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. This club brings all five together through hands-on exploration, creativity, and playful problem-solving.
The STEAM Club is designed for students who love to build, tinker, experiment, and imagine. Instead of working on computers, students explore technology that exists before screens—the kind you can touch, test, take apart, and redesign.
Students will:
● Build and explore simple machines such as levers, pulleys, wheels, and gears.
● Experiment with mechanical structures and engineering challenges.
● Discover how electricity and basic circuits work.
● Combine art, design, and creativity with scientific thinking.
● Use math and logic to solve real-world problems.
● Learn how everyday technology is made and how it works.
Each session encourages curiosity, collaboration, and creativity, allowing students to think like engineers, artists, inventors, and scientists. Projects are open-ended, hands-on, and designed to build confidence and a love of learning.
This club is ideal for students who enjoy building, experimenting, asking how things work, and bringing their ideas to life.

Goals

  • To develop students’ curiosity and problem-solving skills through hands-on exploration of science, engineering, art, and mathematics without the use of screens.
  • To build a foundational understanding of how everyday technology works by engaging with simple machines, mechanical systems, basic electricity, and design processes.
  • To encourage creativity, collaboration, and confidence by giving students open-ended challenges that allow them to think, test ideas, and learn through experimentation.

Materials

All necessary materials will be provided for STEAM Club activities. Occasionally, families may be asked to send in simple recyclable items for specific projects. These requests will be shared in advance and may include items such as shoeboxes, cardboard, or empty plastic water bottles, if available. Participation does not depend on bringing recyclables, as all essential materials will be supplied by the club.
