About the lessons

Join the Urban Dance Club and explore the exciting world of hip-hop, breaking, and house dance!
Hip-Hop: This dynamic street style emerged from the Bronx in the 1970s and is rooted in powerful, expressive movements that tell a story.
Breaking: Originating as one of the pillars of hip-hop culture, breaking combines acrobatics, footwork, and creativity in freestyle battles.
House Dance: Developed in Chicago and New York’s underground clubs, house dance features fast, rhythmic footwork and fluid upper-body movements, emphasizing freedom and musicality.
Students will build confidence, learn freestyle techniques, and create dynamic choreography. All levels are welcome—come express yourself!
Your instructor, Miranda Abbott, is a professional dancer who was known as B-girl Tangie, one of the original B-girls in Toronto, as mentioned in the Oxford Handbook of Hip Hop Dance Studies. She has danced with various artists, including Masia One, and was also a dancer for the Toronto Blue Jays.
